About our Language Café :
BaselConnect's Language Café, founded in 2012, enables those learning German to practice conversing in a relaxed social setting at no cost, and, in the spirit of reciprocity, provides the option for native German-speaking volunteers to practice other languages.
The Language Café is free and open to members and non-members. Registration is necessary, as places are limited.
Sessions take place approximately every two weeks and are two hours long. In the first hour, participants speak German with each other and in the second hour, depending on the attendees' wishes, the group breaks out into subgroups to practice other languages. We recommend a German level of A2/B1 and above.
BaselConnect will be hosting Language Cafés in a new venue in October 2025. Our Language Café is designed to help Basel's international community practice German (and enable native German speakers to practice other languages). There is no entry fee and it is open to all (BC members and non-members alike). Registration is necessary, as places are limited. Sessions are typically two hours long, where the first hour is conversing in German and the second is conversing in other languages. We recommend German level A2 or above.
